Hot Doug’s and Two Brothers Brewery to host benefit picnic for Daniel Biss’ state-representative run

Rare chance to eat hot dogs and get drunk while doing your civic duty

bluebike Imagine how much better it'll taste in a mansion.

You might not particularly care about local government or even know who Illinois House of Representatives candidate Daniel Biss is, but encased-meat emporium Hot Doug’s (3324 N. California Ave., 773-279-9550) is backing him, and frankly, that should be enough for most people. The gourmet hot-dog restaurant is teaming with West Chicago’s Two Brothers Brewery on June 6 at a restored Uptown mansion for a picnic, which Hot Doug’s tells The A.V. Club will feature a microcosm of the restaurant’s usual specialties and regular dogs—and, of course, plenty of beer. Calls to Biss’ office to determine what he’ll be eating weren’t immediately returned, but you can start making your plans by buying a ticket here. It’s an unusual opportunity to eat Hot Doug’s without any wait, but admission costs between $50 for children all the way up to $500 for a VIP reception early in the evening. There's also a piano recital, and everyone in attendance will get to take their photo with Hot Doug's Doug Sohn, which is nice, but people are pretty used to waiting in a long line to see his face already. But just imagine how much better those $10 hot dogs will taste in a mansion!
