Aaron Johnson could be the non-Godzilla in Godzilla

It's the part he was born to etc. etc.

With Joseph Gordon-Levitt officially on to grittier things, Legendary Pictures was forced to find another male lead to star in its Godzilla reboot, and provide the much-needed dramatic ballast of pointing out to a skeptical populace that a giant lizard crushing everything is bad. According to Deadline, that role may go to Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson, easily Hollywood’s second- or third-favorite Aaron, depending on whether you count Aaron Neville. The part is apparently his if he wants it, though Johnson is reportedly waiting to read Frank Darabont’s recently commissioned rewrite before deciding whether to take the project. His hesitance could well pave the way for Aaron Neville to sweep in and steal the film, setting up a devastating faceoff in which Neville defeats Godzilla with his powerful falsetto ray.
