After four seasons spent thriving on the rare rays of spotlight not consumed by Kristen Wiig, Abby Elliott has abandoned her chance to battle Nasim Pedrad et al. to be Saturday Night Live's new utility female player, confirming to Splitsider that she's left the show. Elliott's exit comes after both a breakup with fellow cast member Fred Armisen and landing a pilot at Fox that quickly recast her, leaving her to return to SNL and pretend as though everything was fine and that she was perfectly happy where she was, really, do you need me to do Rachel Maddow again this week? No? Okay, well, I'll be over here then… Anyway, in addition to that impression, Elliott's departure takes with her a stable of recurring characters that includes Anna Faris, Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie, Khloe Kardashian, and—perhaps most obviously—"Bein' Quirky With Zooey Deschanel," though really, they could just hand all of these off to Kenan Thompson.
