David Wain, Michael Showalter, and Michael Ian Black wake up for a new Stella short

Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, and David Wain—a.k.a. the brilliantly absurd comedy group known as Stella—reunited for a new video short at San Francisco’s Sketchfest in January, and now Wain has graciously uploaded the clip online so the rest of us can enjoy it. The short is based around the Stella guys suddenly waking up after 20 years and struggling with modern inventions like a flatscreen TV and thermostat, and it’s packed with the sort of hilarious Stella humor that the uninitiated probably won’t recognize as being funny at all. (Only a Stella fan would get a kick out of watching these three guys count how many years are between 1997 and 2017, for example.) Sadly, this seems like a one-off and not a full-on Stella revival, but maybe if this short gets a billion views it will convince Comedy Central to bring the old Stella TV show back.
