Cash Cab's meter has run out, or whatever vaguely taxi-related metaphor you prefer

It's been canceled, is what we're saying

After six seasons of rewarding pedestrians for their trivia knowledge while ferrying them to their (supposedly spontaneously chosen) destinations, Cash Cab has picked up its last (occasionally random, sometimes meticulously pre-screened) fare. Discovery Channel has confirmed a report first floated at Vulture that the incredibly popular, Emmy-winning game show hosted by Ben Bailey has ceased production after more than 200 episodes, though reruns are expected to continue on the network through September and in syndication for long thereafter.

It’s also possible that another channel could be interested in picking up the format, which is, after all, fairly inexpensive and easy to reproduce—as evidenced by its Chicago- and Vancouver-based spinoffs, and the fact that it was itself based on a British concept—and requires only a city where people would rather not pay a big-ass fee for transportation and enjoy getting surprises in taxicabs that do not involve infection. In the meantime, New Yorkers are advised to not respond to anyone calling you over to make a “Street Shout-Out.” That’s a murderer, and you should stay away from him.
