The Soup is celebrating its 500th episode by going live for the first time ever

E!'s The Soup will celebrate its 500th episode of pop culture commentary, smartass quips, and absurdist horseplay with its first-ever live episodes, airing August 21 at 10 p.m. ET and again at 10 p.m. PT.  Each episode will feature different celebrity guests and will also be streamed live on Eonline and TheSoupTV.com. Host Joel McHale—who's now been standing tall, with immaculate hair, before The Soup's green screen since 2004— expressed excitement at getting to perform the show live, after nearly 10 years of pre-taped episodes. "No television show has ever been broadcast this way before," McHale said. "We're very excited to be at the forefront of this incredible technology."
