Having firmly established a beachhead of adorably insecure females with New Girl, Fox is now fortifying its battalion of quirky ladies with a full-season order for Mindy Kaling's The Mindy Project. Like New Girl, the freshman series has only pulled okay numbers against the impenetrable bunkers of NCIS and The Voice, but Fox clearly believes that the show has a plucky, indomitable spirit that will see it finally finding an audience that loves it for who it is while never asking it to change. The announcement came with attendant good news for fellow Tuesday freshman comedy Ben And Kate, which got an order of six additional episodes—a number that TV Line, at least, speculates might be attributed to showrunner Dana Fox's pregnancy, because women, right? Always putting their TV shows on hold because they're having babies and such.
