This year marks the 20th anniversary of No One Rides For Free, the thunderous debut album by California’s stalwart rock outfit, Fu Manchu. Since then, singer-guitarist Scott Hill and crew have been one of the world’s most consistent purveyors of savage, bong-boiled riffage—and that hasn’t changed with Gigantoid. The band’s latest full-length rages and lunges with a vengeance, as heard on the paranoid-stoner anthem “Invaders On My Back,” which is being debuted here. The song not only howls with feral abandon, it calls back to the group’s own California-punk roots. Fu Manchu may be a little long in the tooth, but those teeth still shred.
Gigantoid will be released April 29 via the band’s own label, At The Dojo.
