It's still more than two months before All Hallows Eve, but the North American Halloween Prevention Initiative is already on the case with "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en," an all-star charity single that will, I guess, help stamp out scary ghosts forever. The pretty cool all-star lineup includes Beck, The Arcade Fire, Sonic Youth, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sloan, Peaches, Feist, Devendra Banhart, Wolf Parade, The Postal Service, Buck 65, David Cross, Malcolm McLaren, Elvira, and Roky Erickson. Even though it's a parody of well-meaning stuff like Live 8 and "Do They Know It's Christmas," there's apparently an actual charitable element involved here: When the single comes out in the offline world Oct. 11, proceeds will benefit UNICEF.
