Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. play police in the Let’s Be Cops trailer

Probably just to mess with Winston—or maybe to teach him a misguided life lesson about not needing a badge to enforce the law—Nick Miller and Coach masquerade as police officers in the upcoming action-comedy Let’s Be Cops. Okay, so it’s not actually Nick Miller and Coach doing the masquerading, but rather two characters played, respectively, by Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. But there’s a definite New Girl vibe to that above red band trailer, albeit with more f-bombs and drug use than is traditionally permitted on Fox. The film is directed and co-written by Luke Greenfield, best known for his work on The Girl Next Door, and speaking of Greenfields best known for comedies with “girl” in their titles: Couldn’t they have made that buddy-cop duo a buddy-cop trio by including Schmidt? Let’s Be Cops bumbles into theaters on August 13.
