It’s basically prophecy: All the stars of your favorite teen shows of yore are now going to play parents on current teen shows. Luke Perry is Archie’s dad on Riverdale, and yesterday Marvel announced that James Marsters is joining the cast of Runaways as the father of one of its young heroes. Marsters—also known as Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s Spike—will play scientist Victor Stein, who “has lofty expectations for his son, and when they aren’t met, his retribution can be fierce.” He is, as one might expect, one of the bad guys. In fact, the conceit of the tale is that all these kids’ folks are.

Meanwhile, Ever Carradine is set as Victor’s wife Janet, “a perfect PTA mom.” The other grown-ups, known as “The Pride,” are: Ryan Sands and Angel Parker as Geoffrey and Catherine Wilder, Brittany Ishibashi and James Yaegashi as Tina and Robert Minoru, Kevin Weisman and Bridid Brannagh as Dale and Stacey Yorkes, and Annie Wersching and Kip Pardue as Leslie and Frank Dean. Frank, in a fun detail, is actually a ”former teen star.” We previously broke down the cast of kids.
