And now for slightly more positive Lopez news: Producer Nigel Lythgoe has confirmed that Jennifer Lopez will indeed return to reprise her duties on American Idol, offering another season of contestants vague encouragement and an obvious emotional investment in their performance that occasionally borders on parasitic appropriation. Lopez has had trouble with commitment lately, but in this case she loved herself enough to stay and accept an $8 million raise. Of course, news of Lopez’s pay hike sparked rumors that Steven Tyler would also stump for an increase in his current two-year deal, but as of now Lythgoe says Tyler is also set to return alongside both Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest, who will never escape, never.
