Joss Whedon's The Cabin In The Woods has an actual release date

After Lionsgate swooped into the bankrupt MGM’s lotto-ticket-and-empty-Frito-bag-strewn squat, swaddled Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s The Cabin In The Woods, and cooed that it was taking it to a safe place far, far away, we’ve been waiting to see when the oft-abused horror film might finally be released back into society. Well today is the day, apparently, as Deadline reports that Cabin is actually, really scheduled to premiere on April 13, 2012, just shy of three years since it was completed. Although, as we mentioned when it was rescued back in April, that delay could prove to be something of a positive, as star Chris Hemsworth has since gone from “that guy who played Captain Kirk’s dad for a minute in Star Trek” to blockbuster superhero in Thor, and Cabin will be released during those weeks when anticipation for The Avengers is at an all-time high. However, there’s still no word on Hemsworth’s other lost MGM film, Red Dawn, which is now sleeping alone on their once-shared soiled mattress with no one to comfort it during those long and stifling nights when MGM spirals into one of its moods.
