Katy Perry is now as good as Michael Jackson—at least as far as No. 1 songs from a single album goes

There are two ways to deal with the cultural inevitability of Katy Perry—resist it, or sigh deeply and grudgingly surrender. Clearly, the world has chosen the latter strategy, as Perry has become the first female artist and only the second artist overall to score five No. 1 singles from a single album. Michael Jackson did it with Bad, and now Katy Perry has done with Teenage Dream, which has spawned “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” "E.T.," and her latest No. 1 “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” Overall, Perry has had six consecutive No. 1 singles. If you’d like to congratulate her, you can find Perry on the road for her “California Dreams” world tour, but you better have a ticket, because it’s sold out. In other news, a fleet of Katy Perry’s tanks should be rolling into your town by this time next week.
