Lil Wayne to kill time before Tha Carter IV by releasing mix-tape, getting sued

While Lil Wayne continues to crank out one hot delay after another when it comes to Tha Carter IV, he’s also actually been recording stuff—enough stuff to cobble together another pre-release mix-tape, according to Young Money mouthpiece Mack Maine. The preview is reportedly “coming soon” (ostensibly before Tha Carter IV’s Aug. 29 debut, or whatever its next rescheduled date will be) and will bear the title Sorry 4 The Wait, which is definitely better than the title suggested by Maine’s previous tweet, Fart Face Maggot.

In the meantime, Lil Wayne continues to get slapped with lawsuits—three times in a single week, which is pretty remarkable—over unpaid Carter III royalties (from both Dallas production team Play-N-Skillz and producer David Kirkwood) as well as illegal sampling of a Funkadelic tune on Birdman and Wayne’s “Army Gunz” track. And these, of course, are in addition to past legal troubles from producers Darius “Deezle” Harrison and Shondrae “Bangladesh” Crawford over unpaid Carter III royalties, as well as that time the publishing company who owns the rights to the Rolling Stones’ “Play With Fire” sued over its illegal sampling on the Carter III track “Playing With Fire.” So perhaps all these Carter IV delay is just providing the necessary berth so Lil Wayne can start with a fresh slate of all new lawsuits.
