Members of Pussy Riot detained and questioned by police in Sochi

Former (or maybe current?) members of Pussy Riot Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alyokhina were arrested on charges of theft during a weekend trip to Sochi. The two have since been released, but Tolokonnikova has been tweeting about the whole ordeal, even posting selfies from inside a Russian paddy wagon.

According to Tolokonnikova, the two women were in Sochi “in order to carry out Pussy Riot action” along with other members of the group. The collective was set to perform a song, “Putin Will Teach You To Love The Motherland,” but the plan was thwarted when Tolokonnikova, Alyokhina, and a number of other journalists and activists were grabbed on the street and questioned about items that had allegedly been stolen from their hotel. According to the Sochi police, “all citizens staying at the hotel were interrogated.”
