Mike Bell & The Movies welcome an unending stream of fists to the face

There’s a fine line that separates pop-punk and power-pop, one that seems to only become increasingly fuzzy as both genres begin sharing more and more character traits. Philadelphia’s Mike Bell & The Movies may not be the first to try their hand at navigating between the two similar styles, but as the group’s debut album Nothing Works shows, it’s able to marry Bell’s snottier delivery with the hallmarks of power-pop’s past. Below, The A.V. Club is premiering the video for “Everyone”–one of Nothing Works’ standout tracks–in which Bell takes a barrage of fists and open-hand slaps while the chorus of “everyone” permeates positivity in the background.
