NBC will finally air The Maya Rudolph Variety Show in May

After months in limbo, Maya Rudolph’s variety show special finally has a run date. The Maya Rudolph Show will air Monday, May 19 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC and will star not only Rudolph but pals Kristen Bell, Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen, Craig Robinson, Sean Hayes, and Chris Parnell. Janelle Monae will act as the show’s musical guest, and Raphael Saaddiq will lead the house band. The show, executive produced by Lorne Michaels, is ostensibly meant as a pilot, and  was originally scheduled to air after the Winter Olympics. Its success could mean development into an ongoing series (though the fact that it’s languished on NBC’s schedule since late 2013 suggests the network probably isn’t pushing for that).
