Phish surprises fans with new single, album details

The recently reunited kings of the jam-band world, Phish, surprised fans today with some news: a new song and details on a new album. "Time Turns Elastic," which the band premiered via some studio footage, is available for download at the iTunes store today. Guitarist-vocalist Trey Anastasio performed a classical version of the song with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra last week.

Phish also announced that the album it began recording in March with noted producer Steve Lillywhite (XTC, U2, The Rolling Stones, Talking Heads) is already done and scheduled for release July 28. That comes on the heels of the band's first tour in five years, which begins May 31 at Fenway Park in Boston.
