Guitarist Christopher Reimer, who was a member of the acclaimed Calgary indie-rock group Women and a recent tour musician for The Dodos, died in his sleep Tuesday. A cause of death is not yet known. He was 26.
Women released two albums of swirling, sinister, and insistently melodic drone-rock, 2008's Women and 2010's Public Strain, before abruptly canceling all remaining dates of the tour in support of Strain after a tumultuous show in British Columbia. With Women apparently on hiatus, Reimer toured with The Dodos throughout 2011. [via The Calgary Herald]
