Smashing Pumpkins announce ridiculously huge Adore reissue

Billy Corgan doesn’t do anything halfway—or without needless excess. Smashing Pumpkins are set to reissue a massive Adore reissue on Sept. 23, complete with a 107-track, six-CD/DVD Super Deluxe package that includes rarities, demos, live material, and a mono version of the original album. The record will also be available as a 90-track deluxe digital version, as well as in 2LP and single CD form.

Adore was first released in 1998 and was essentially a document of the Pumpkins’ imminent collapse, as well as Corgan’s divorce and the then-recent loss of his mother. Corgan also said in press materials that the title, Adore, was meant to be a play on “A door”—a “joke” he says no one ever got.

Two new Pumpkins records are due in 2015Monuments To An Elegy and Day For Night—with the first new single reportedly coming at some point before the end of 2014. The group’s last record, Oceania, came out in 2012.
