Stream the new album from emo darlings Football, Etc.

Emo isn’t a word tossed around so much anymore, but Football, Etc. wears it proudly. The Houston band has a new album, Audible, out Aug. 13 on Count Your Lucky Stars, and it’s available to stream in its entirety exclusively on The A.V. Club. It’s not like what emo evolved into through the mid-2000s, but, rather, a return to what defined the genre before it became a fashion choice: droning guitars, softly strong drums, and stories of heartache that engulf the listener in their catchy sadness. It’s worth a listen for those who long for the resurgence of The Promise Ring and American Football.
