The World's End

Like Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz before it, Edgar Wright’s The World’s End looks to have plenty of what we’ve come to expect from the director’s “Cornetto Trilogy.” Here Simon Pegg and Nick Frost once again play regular blokes facing incredible odds—in this case, a mile-long pub crawl that bested them in their youth, but which Pegg, at least, is determined to finish, despite his advancing years and friends who are now boring adults. Further complicating matters: Those pubs are located within a town full of people who have been body-snatched, their plans for an apocalyptic invasion inconveniencing Pegg’s own scheme for a fun night out. Martin Freeman also turns up, there’s the obligatory fence-jumping gag, and all in all, it’s just like getting the old gang back together. Too bad every time they do, something horrible has to happen.
