As previously announced, TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek has a solo album under the name Maximum Balloon arriving August 24. And while you probably already had some notion of what it might sound like based on Sitek’s TVOTR work, his production work for groups like Liars and Foals, or any lingering animosity you feel toward his helping Scarlett Johannson make an album, we now have a more concrete idea thanks to first single, “Tiger,” which made its web debut today on the Maximum Balloon website. Featuring Aku from Dragons Of Zynth (whom Sitek worked with on the group’s 2007 album Coronation Thieves), “Tiger” is a typically buzzy-synth-and-scratchy-guitar-laden slice of dark dance-rock, given an extra shot of sex appeal from English fashion model (and Gavin Rossdale’s daughter) Daisy Lowe.
The full album will feature other guest vocal turns from Yeah Yeah Yeahs Karen O, TVOTR’s Tunde Adibempe and Kyp Malone, Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano, Holly Miranda, Theophilus London, and (unconfirmed but rumored) David Byrne. You can download “Tiger” from iTunes beginning tomorrow.
