Visit the inspiration for Portlandia's feminist bookstore with Kumail Nanjiani

The third season of Portlandia starts January 4, which means it’s time for IFC to start reminding the public about the show’s weird world of birds, feminist bookstores, and Marionberry pancakes. This time around the network has enlisted Kumail Nanjiani—one of the show’s regulars and a very funny comedian in his own right—to star in shorts about the actual city of Portland and all its vegan strip clubs, Steampunks, and chicken retirement homes. In the debut episode of Kumail Tours Portland, though, Nanjiani visits In Other Words, the real-life feminist community center that inspired the show’s Women & Women First and checks out its selection of anti-rape bumper stickers, vagina-themed candleholders, and Qigong classes.
