Continuing Joss Whedon's trajectory from nerd icon to slightly more mainstream nerd icon to legitimately mainstream (though still very nerdy) icon, Kate Nash and friends performed a full-length Halloween tribute to "Once More With Feeling," the musical episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, at London's Hackney Picturehouse on Wednesday night.
It's clearly meant as "a bit of fun" (as they may very well have referred to it in England) rather than a full-scale production. Nash, for example, wears a silly blonde wig as Buffy and Emmy The Great wears an equally heinous red one as Willow. Nonetheless, it's an endearing and unabashed admission of geekery from a popular female performer, one whose effects will undoubtedly be felt in many a BSG-watching basement across the land.
