Watch Philip Seymour Hoffman star in a P.T. Anderson-directed music video from 1997

Way back in 1997, Michael Penn recruited Philip Seymour Hoffman to play a roadie in his “Try” music video. The Paul Thomas Anderson-directed clip was shot during the Boogie Nights editing process and uses both cast and crew from that film, including not only Hoffman, but also Thomas Jane and Melora Walters. (Hoffman is wearing an Angels Live In My Town jacket in the clip, which is a reference to the film) The great clip is worth revisiting after the actor’s sudden death this past weekend, if only to marvel at both the video’s infinite hallway set before you sink (once again) into deep, deep despair over Hoffman’s demise.
