Why? announces new record, extensive fall tour

Cincinnati-based indie-rock/hip-hop trio Why? has announced an Oct. 8 release date for its new LP Mumps, Etc. The album follows Sod In The Seed, a six-track EP arriving Aug. 14, marking the band’s first releases since 2009's Eskimo Snow.

Why? recorded Mumps, Etc. near the University of North Texas, borrowing a bit of inspiration from its music school. Mumps includes the sounds of an eight-person choir, woodwinds, a string quartet, and horns all drawn from UNT. But presumably they won't also be crowding onto the tour bus come Aug. 24, when the band kicks off a lengthy tour in Columbia, Missouri.
