As reported today, Kanye West will indeed return to the MTV Video Music Awards (or The R.J. Bergers, as we prefer to call it) only a year after his interruption of Taylor Swift completely destroyed his career for approximately one week. Many a music blog has speculated as to whether the network would even allow him back in the building, but today MTV announced that no, it is not stupid, and it will in fact give West the chance to do something that could potentially cause people to pay attention to its awards show again. (Or, as MTV put it in its press release, “Fans will be glued to the screen to see what the rapper has in store for the audience.”) On his Twitter feed, Kanye confirmed his appearance and promised that he is “brainstorming the performance now” then went back to talking about suits and exhausting the nation’s reserves of exclamation points. Oh Kanye, just get Taylor Swift to come out and duet with Beyoncé on “See Me Now” and be done with it. You've got decorating to do.
