American Gladiators to become movie, bring world one step closer to Idiocracy
If you’re like no one, ever, you’ve been patiently counting down the days until someone got the bright idea to turn the spandex-clad celebration of steroid abuse that was American Gladiator into a movie. Wait no longer, friends! Variety has just announced that a big-screen adaptation of the syndicated favorite is in the works.
No screenwriter or director has been announced yet. It’s too bad Harold Pinter didn’t live to see his dream project come to fruition. In a semi-related note, Nitro’s recent memoir is surprisingly gripping and goes into brutally explicit detail about the physical effects of steroids. I’m thinking about writing it up in a forthcoming entry in Silly Show-Biz Book Club.
