Newswire Bill Gates terrifies TED Conference with mosquitos

When Bill Gates stepped down from Microsoft in 2006 to dedicate more of his time to philanthropy, it seemed like a noble pursuit. But after this afternoon, it’s obvious that the Microsoft Chairman is instead choosing to live up to the eccentric behavior that his fortune enables by going batshit crazy: During a speech at the Technology Entertainment Design Conference in Monterey, Calif., Gates unleashed a swarm of live mosquitos onto the audience, saying only, “Not only poor people should experience this,” according to Valleywag. Presumably this had something to do with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and malaria, which seeks to eradicate the disease. Cue the joke: Instead, this only stands as the second largest group of bugs ever to be released by Gates (rimshot).
