Hey, did you know The A.V. Club has eight local sites? Every day, writers in Ann Arbor, Chicago, Denver, Madison, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Toronto, and the Twin Cities are posting about music, films, and other events and news happening in their cities. Whether you live in one of these cities or elsewhere, there’s plenty of great local stuff that’s worth a look. Here’s a round-up of what caught our attention this week. And if you haven't had a chance yet, be sure to check out the local sites' new, spiffy redesign.
• Chicago talked to hip-hop jokesters Das Racist about what others have said about them.
• Toronto stepped back into the past in a chat with William B. Davis aka The Cigarette Smoking Man from The X-Files.
• Philly enlisted a pair of kids to grill kid-oriented dance-pop duo Koo Koo Kanga Roo.
• As Halloween approaches, Ann Arbor put together a guide to zombie costumes, because there’s nothing worse than a half-assed zombie.
• Speaking of zombies, Denver talked to Brian Peck, the mohawked punk zombie from 1985’s Return Of The Living Dead.
• And, in case you haven’t had enough zombies, Milwaukee rant down a list of which of that city’s malls are best for surviving the (impending) zombie apocalypse.
• Madison enjoyed the one-finger salute from Packers player A.J. Hawk while University of Wisconsin’s football coach was a little less thrilled with the student section’s vulgar cheers.
• The Twin Cities talked to local filmmaker Matt Osterman, whose film Ghost From The Machine was purchased by Universal Pictures to prime for a big-budget remake.
