John Sayles to help write Anthony Kiedis' HBO show
Have you heard? Anthony Kiedis' loca vida is going to be made into an HBO series, a move prompted by the success of the Red Hot Chili Peppers singer's autobiography, Scar Tissue. Here's the new news: Respected film director John Sayles will apparently be writing the series. (According to Variety.com.)
Sayles rides a pretty amazing line in Hollywood: He's able to make amazing, quiet dramas (Matewan, Lone Star, Limbo, etc.) as a writer/director, then make some coin script-doctoring big-budget hoo-ha like The Mummy and the upcoming Jurassic Park IV. According to the Variety piece, Kiedis and Sayles "hit it off."
