Moore, Chomsky, Watt in new doc

With National Record Store Day just around the corner, filmmaker Brendan Toller has announced a new project: a documentary about independent music retail titled I Need That Record!: The Death (Or Possible Survival) Of The Independent Record Store. Says Toller, the current ways people learn about and buy music "squash new ideas, new innovations, and new possibilities as the future of recorded music, a commodity that supports the artist, vanishes." The interview-heavy doc will feature Thurston Moore, Noam Chomsky, Ian MacKaye, Mike Watt, and many more. The film is scheduled to debut at Hampshire College in Massachusetts on May 3; no word yet on a wider release.
