MTV to air an American Skins
The showbiz trades are reporting today that MTV has landed the rights to produce and air an Americanized version of the hit British series Skins, about a group of hard-partying teenagers coping with their individual crises. The MTV Skins will be shot and set in Baltimore, and won't be as explicit in terms of language and nudity as the original, though the producers are promising to respect the source material's subject matter and tone (part raunchy comedy, part plainspoken drama). Casting is currently underway for the pilot episode. If they're really being true to the original, the casting notice should read: "Zits a plus."
