This Week In Local Muppets, baseball, and getting stoned (in the Biblical sense)

A look at what's going on this week on the local A.V. Club sites.

muppet.wikia.com Muppet rarities? Yes, please.

Hey, did you know The A.V. Club has seven local sites? Every day, writers in Austin, Chicago, Denver, Madison, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and the Twin Cities are posting about music, films, and other events and news happening in their cities. Whether you live in one of these cities or elsewhere, there’s plenty of great local stuff that’s worth a look. Here’s a round-up of what caught our attention this week.

• Austin celebrated a presentation of Jim Henson's work by digging out a few Muppets rarities.

• Philadelphia responded to the story of a 28-year-old man being charged with stoning a 70-year-old man to death (allegedly for being gay) by taking a closer look at who the Bible says should be stoned (and why it's crazy).

• Chicago talked to Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus to prep for the 2011 Major League Baseball season and determine if Cubs fans will have to wait yet another year.

• Madison, lamenting the departure of music videos from MTV, took a peek at a few recent music videos (and noted how NSFW they are).

• Denver channeled its inner film-buff and explored 10 movies either set or filmed in the state of Colorado.

• Milwaukee was all about music this week, checking out a stream of the new Maritime album and a new protest song from JC Poppe and Brooklyn-by-way-of-Milwaukee’s Pezzettino (a.k.a. Margaret Stutt).

• The Twin Cities talked to 16-year-old Caitlin Angelica, the editor-in-chief of arts magazine Crooked Teeth.
