R.I.P. Marilyn Chambers
MSNBC is reporting that veteran film actress Marilyn Chambers was found dead last night by her 17-year-old daughter. Chambers was 56. She became a household name in 1972 with the release of Behind The Green Door, which, like Deep Throat, reached a wider audience during a brief period in which pornographic movies gained mainstream acceptance. Chambers girl-next-door looks—as a model she posed for Ivory Soap—helped make her a star and she was able to parlay that stardom into a leading role in the early David Cronenberg film Rabid in 1977. Further work in mainstream films eluded her, however, and Chambers continued to work in the adult film industry until her death, the cause of which has not yet been determined.
