R.I.P. Sky Saxon of The Seeds
Sky Saxon, guitarist and lead singer for the influential garage band The Seeds has died in Austin, TX, Austin360.com is reporting. The Seeds' success was short but brilliant. They helped define the spirit of '66 and the sound of countless garage bands trying to sound like the Stones and the Yardbirds but on a lunch-money budget. Formed in L.A., the band's greatest success came with the signature 1966 hit "Pushin' Too Hard." In later years, Saxon fronted various incarnations of The Seeds, joined the Source Family religious group and collaborated with other bands. He'd only recently moved to Austin.
