Hey, did you know The A.V. Club has seven local sites? Every day, writers in Austin, Chicago, Denver, Madison, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and the Twin Cities are posting about music, films, and other events and news happening in their cities. Whether you live in one of these cities or elsewhere, there’s plenty of great local stuff that’s worth a look. Here’s a round-up of what caught our attention this week.
• Philadelphia made the news when our own A.V. Club Philadelphia City Editor Emily Guendelsberger was one of several victims injured in a violent attack by a roving mob of teenagers. Emily, who's still recovering from her injuries, later shared her personal thoughts on the attack, as well as those of other victims.
• With annual Summerfest extravaganza kicking off this week, Milwaukee enlisted some friends for a dramatic reading of Milwaukee Journal-Sentine reader comments about the Kanye West show. Hilarity, of course, ensued.
• Ahead of a book reading and signing by Bristol Palin, who's shilling her new memoir, the Twin Cities came up with a list of questions to ask the young author, because every 20-year-old needs a memoir.
• Austin not only got to check out the recent Party Down marathon, but also got to interview the cast, making them the object of jealousy by TV nerds everywhere.
• Denver sneered its way through a list of overlooked punk records with some help from members of punk bands, even though "helping" is so not punk.
• Chicago was in a wrasslin' mood as it chatted with Mike Quackenbush of Philadelphia-based independent wrestling federation Chikara.
• Madison bugged producer-DJ Man Mantis right before his first ever solo show.
