Abigail Williams

Abigail Williams

Don’t let the friendly name fool you: Abigail Williams is a roaring, stomping exponent of symphonic black metal that takes its moniker from an appropriately eeeeeevil source: the chief accuser at the Salem Witch Trials. The band had some growing pains since its 2004 formation, constantly reforming and losing all members but singer Ken Sorceron (now that’s a metal name) in the wake of the 2008 album In The Shadow Of A Thousand Suns. Since then, Sorceron has led the band in a decidedly more black metal sound. On Abigail Williams’ brand new full-length, Becoming, the Phoenix-born band aims for a sound that’s sweepingly big and closer to Nordic metal than many of its Stateside brothers-in-doom.
