Adam Carolla
It’s entirely possible to enjoy Adam Carolla not as a typical stand-up comic, but rather a cranky, parched, Fozzie Bear-voiced partner in conversation. Carolla has found diverse applications for his early experiences as a radio personality, including co-hosting Comedy Central’s The Man Show with Jimmy Kimmel, tormenting the innocent via the unwelcome prank calls of Crank Yankers, and starting the ACE Broadcasting Network for his flagship podcast—all in addition to his name-making stint as Dr. Drew’s comic relief on the sex advice show Loveline. Carolla’s live shows obviously promise more of a stand-up feel, but they also work in elements of his podcast, including comedian and/or celebrity guests and a segment in which he complains about things based on audience suggestions. In 2010, he published In Fifty Years We’ll All Be Chicks, his first book and his most recent foray in a long career of man-ology.
