Adrian Belew

Through stints backing up the likes of David Bowie and Frank Zappa in the late ’70s to his current status as a mainstay of the rejuvenated King Crimson, instrumental craftsman Adrian Belew has substituted a wink and grin for the furrowed-brow grimace of most guitar heroes. Though the public is doubtless more familiar with his work as a sideman, Belew’s solo career is thriving: 2005 saw the release of a pair of intriguingly diverse solo albums, Side One and Side Two, followed by 2006’s Side Three and 2007’s Side Four.
