Against Me!

Against Me!

Against Me! is no stranger to friction. From livid, enraged columnists to raving ex-fans, the Florida folk-punk band has felt hard backlashes nearly every step of its career. On “I Was A Teenage Anarchist,” the lead single from 2010’s Butch Vig-produced White Crosses, it seems that Against Me! is still trying to make amends (or at least offer explanations) to its longtime detractors. “I was a teenage anarchist / the revolution was a lie” sings Tom Gabel, as if to finally put to rest every vehement cry of “sell-out” from the last decade. Truth is that Gabel and company don’t really need to answer to anybody. The band’s continued prosperity, matured rock records, and multiplying young fan base pretty much says it all.
