Agent Orange
Agent Orange was an anomaly in early-’80s L.A. hardcore for the way it enlisted the genre’s characteristic energy and speed in service of Dick Dale-influenced surf rock rather than typical angst-fueled punk blasts. Despite requisite lineup changes, Agent Orange has managed to weather more than 25 years without disbanding, and the enduring popularity of surf music—not to mention the quality of the tunes—means that songs like “Living In Darkness” and “Everything Turns Grey” sound much less dated than much of what came out of hardcore’s heyday.
