Longtime alt-rock femme Alanis Morissette is a tough-girl poseur who has given up on being tough in recent years. (See: her re-release of angry-chick benchmark album Jagged Little Pill in 2005 as an acoustic effort.) However, when she split with actor Ryan Reynolds and he subsequently shacked up with Scarlett Johansson, some thought Morissette might learn to be pissed off all over again on her last record, Flavors Of Entanglement. But the album is actually more sorrowful than angry, confirming Morissette’s maturity and terminal lack of edginess.
