Artist Alex B

  • alex b Johnathan Katzenburg

Alex B’s slippery, stuttering beats can be hard to lock onto for dancing, but the chopped-up wooziness is designed to get heads nodding, like the work of the late J Dilla. B’s debut album, 2010’s Moments, lacks some of the organic soul that made Dilla’s work so accessible, but cameos from the likes of Count Bass D give tracks like “Drip Splatter” context and add a little humanity to the album’s alien landscapes.
