And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
The cover of …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead’s 2009 album, The Century Of Self, is a hyper-detailed scene drawn entirely in ballpoint pen by co-frontman Conrad Keely—indicative of the arduous and complicated tasks the band set up for itself when making the record. Not the least of those tasks: putting a stop to the diminishing returns since 2002’s monumental Source Tags & Codes, which the record achieved with considerable, bombastic aplomb. Keely’s sights are kept high on the latest album, Tao Of The Dead, citing ’70s prog-rock concept albums as a direct influence for the two-part, 52-minute excursion through the merger of the feral and grandiose.
