HOLIDAY SALE AT THE ONION STORE

Artist Andrew Bird

His classical training and considerable technical skills aside, Andrew Bird attacks his elaborately crafted pop collages with a puckish sense of experimentalism. Live, Bird creates unique sounds via his use of stomp-box samplers, which loop and layer pizzicato and bowed violin, guitar, and his own whistling into a lush sonic tapestry. Bird’s latest creation, Sonic Arboretum, is a collaboration with sound artist Ian Schneller. Together, the duo have crafted soundscapes lush with orchestral sounds pumped out of oversized modern phonograph players. It’s installed at the Museum Of Contemporary Art through the end of the year, but Bird and Schneller will be fiddling around live and in person for just two shows, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for Bird-fans and art snobs alike.
