Anna Vogelzang

Anna Vogelzang rounded up a lot of talent to help out on her latest, Canary In A Coal Mine, like Franz Nicolay, Dresden Doll’s Brian Viglione, and the versatile Madison jazz group The Weather Duo. The results show up in a drastic enrichment of her sound, as tunes like “Die Trying” begin with Vogelzang’s lovely voice and gentle banjo picking before exploding outward with shuffling drums and huge strings to a grand finale. It’s exhilarating stuff.
