Anti-Flag

The Pittsburgh punk-rockers of Anti-Flag have been railing against the American government for years, and, dammit, the Obama administration sure as hell isn’t going to stop them now. The 2009 album The People Or The Gun expounds even more on their hatred of capitalism, with tracks like “The Economy Is Suffering... Let It Die” asking, “I’ve seen a lot of bailouts in my life / But why is it I never see a bailout for the homeless and the poor?” While the rest of the lyrics mostly amount to kicking economists everywhere in their collective groin, Anti-Flag’s hate-filled but strangely infectious energy picks up the slack, creating this odd sensation of “I’m so pissed, but I’m having a great time!” The same goes for material from the band’s forthcoming record, The General Strike, which sounds like business as usual for the punks.
